We have been busy decorating for Christmas just like Santa’s little helpers.
This year we got an early start decorating. We do not usually put the tree up this soon, but Sophia did a good job
convincing begging us to put it up the day after Thanksgiving. I have to admit I quite enjoy the warmth and the cozy ambiance the tree lights provide – we have the tree and lights on all the time.
WARNING: DO NOT STARE DIRECTLY AT THE UNFINISHED STEPS. WE ADDED THE PRETTY LIGHTS TO DISTRACT YOU FROM THEIR UNSIGHTLY APPEARANCE
Um, yeah, sorry about the stairs. We have not had time to tackle them after we installed the floors. Not to mention, we still need to paint the stairway walls and the upstairs hallway. I am undecided about the stairway color. I was thinking about painting the wall with garland on it a different color because it faces out toward the living room. I would like the wall to become a feature wall that pops with a bold color. I will admit I am scared to go bold, because of lack of natural light and having to repaint it. I do have dreams of the
sugar plum fairies dancing in my head adding white framed photos. I know they would really pop off a bold color wall. Hmm, decisions, decisions, but I digress.
This year, I decided to make my own Christmas bows. In the past, we wrapped the ribbon around the tree. I used the ribbon that we precut last year to create the bows for this year’s tree and garland. That is why there are different shapes and sizes. I like the larger bows with more loops and longer tails, but I knew that would not for the top part of the tree. This is the video I used to help me make the bows. Does not worry, if you do not get it on the first try, I did not.
Sophia proudly showed off her best decorating skills.
We are still decorating, but here is a sneak peak of what are doing with our bookshelf. Since we do not have fireplace we use our bookshelf because it has mantle-like qualities.
I will post more photos soon. I have a nifty idea about quick and easy Christmas centerpiece.
